2017 Point Standings (TBA)

Point System & Awards

After the conclusion of play, awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age/gender group. Ties for 1st Place will be broken with a sudden death playoff.  All other ties remain as ties and points are divided equally among the contestants.
  • If weather or darkness prevents completing a sudden death playoff, the winner will be decided by a scorecard playoff determined on the basis of the best score on the last nine holes.  If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, determine the winner on the basis of the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole.
  • All 1st Place ties for nine hole players will be determined on the basis of the best score on the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 9th hole.
  • If the players are still tied using the above method, continue backwards from the last hole until a winner is determined.

If an event is shortened due to inclement weather, scorecard playoffs will be determined by:

  • 5 or 6 holes completed – last three, last hole
  • 7 or 8 holes completed – last six, last three, last hole
  • 9 or more holes completed – last 9, last six, last three, last hole
  • If the players are still tied using the above method, continue backwards from the last hole until a winner is determined

Points will be awarded to all finishers in each age/gender group and will accumulate throughout the year.

Points awarded are listed according to the Points Chart.

Points Averaging

With the intent to reward the player(s) who consistently perform the best in each age division we have implemented for 2016 the following calculation for Player of the Year Awards:

  1. Points will be awarded for each event played
  2. We will divide the total points by the number of events played (ie: a player plays 3 events with a point total of 900; the players point average is 300 (900 divided by 3 events).
  3. Player(s) must complete 5 events -- and meet the scoring minimum in at least one event -- to be eligible for end of year awards.  If the player competes in more than 5 events, we will use the player's best 5 finishes (5 highest point values earned).
  4. Quiz points (500) will be added to the total before the calculation but are not considered an "event"

If you have any questions about this new calculation, please email the director, John Baker, at john@redhillsjuniorgolf.com.

Earn Extra Points: Take a Rules Quiz

We emphasize all players get familiar with the USGA Rules of Golf at an early age. All RHJT players will be provided their own USGA Rules of Golf 2012-2013 Booklet.  Knowing the rules is  especially critical in competitive situations.  Further, the rules and decisions of the USGA  evolve over time so it's always a good idea to brush up on them from time to time.

We encourage all players to take a brief rules quiz and bring the results to their first event to earn an easy additional 500 points.   Players who take and pass the rules quiz will have a 500 point advantage over those who do not.  Take the quiz now ...

IMPORTANT: Rules Quiz points acceptance extended to 5pm, Sept. 25, 2016.

A 2-Day Red Hills Tour Championship event will be held as the next to last season event.
